Evaluation of AFD Middle East and North Africa Crisis Responses Portfolio – Syria Earthquake Response

Client: AFD, Technopolic/GIST

This project assessed the effectiveness and efficiency of the Agence Française de Développement’s (AFD) crisis response portfolio, with a particular focus on interventions following the Syria earthquake. The evaluation examined AFD’s strategies, coordination mechanisms, and impact on affected communities while identifying opportunities to enhance ongoing and future humanitarian efforts.

Support, design and implementation of results-based monitoring system for Jordan Public Administration Reform “Inclusive and User-centered e-Services” and “Governance to Support Jordanian Reform Projects”

Evaluation of the Aid Fund for Northern Syria (AFNS) (2024)

Client: Adam Smith International (in partnership with IOD PARC)

A thorough evaluation of the Aid Fund for Northern Syria, analyzing its performance in addressing the region’s pressing humanitarian needs. The review focused on the fund’s earthquake response, localization initiatives, grant-making processes, partnerships, and overall alignment with Northern Syria’s goals for sustainable humanitarian impact.

Capacity Building, Mapping, and Technical Support for the Qualification Initiative for Syrian Civil Society (QICS III)

Client: Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ)

Delivered comprehensive capacity-building support to Syrian Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) operating in Syria and Turkey. This initiative included targeted training, consultations, and technical backstopping services to strengthen organizational capabilities.
Key contributions:

• Mapping and Strategy Development: Conducted regional mapping of Syrian civil society actors within Syria, neighboring countries, and Europe, informing strategic planning and regional knowledge sharing.

• Thematic Expertise: Developed program modules focused on women’s empowerment, youth development, and leadership, addressing the specific needs and challenges of CSOs.

• Collaborative Approach: Facilitated partnerships across Syria, Europe, the UK, and Turkey, contributing to the design of effective civil society programs on Leadership, Women Empowerment, and Youth within GIZ’s Syria Civil Society Programmes.

Holistic Organisational Development of the Goethe Institute Kyoto

The Goethe Institute Kyoto faced enormous challenges: Shrinking budgets and high demands of external stakeholders, within a change management situation. We helped the leadership in a coaching and team development process, assessing past evaluations and developing together a new vision and organisational set-up for the Goethe Insitute to function with agility and high performance dynamics. Today the Goethe Institute Kyoto is thriving at its best.

Mid-Term Evaluation of the SJAC MFA Meaningful Justice Project
